Executive Director of Education Foundation & Public Relations:
Williamsport Area School District, located in Lycoming County, enrollment approximately 4,800, grades K-12, is seeking an Executive Director of the Education Foundation and Public Relations. Responsibilities include fundraising, coordinating projects and maintaining appropriate records for the Education Foundation. This position also is responsible for developing a planned, systematic process of communication between the school district and internal or external stakeholders. Specific responsibilities include, but not limited to, social and digital media management, developing press releases and other new/district publications, representing the district at various public events, serving as the district spokesperson and designing and producing a variety of district publications. Requirements: Bachelor Degree in public relations, communications or related discipline. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in public relations and fundraising. JOB DESCRIPTION:
Basic Functions:
The Executive Director of the Education Foundation and Public Relations is responsible for fundraising, coordinating projects, and maintaining appropriate records for the Foundation. This position is also responsible for developing a planned and systematic process of communication between the school district and internal and external stakeholders. This position is responsible for developing all press releases and other news/district publications and representing the district at various public events.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor degree in public relations, communications or related discipline
A minimum of three years prior experience in public relations and fundraising.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Ability to apply various proven fundraising strategies and techniques.
Requires superior communication skills, both verbal and written.
Experience with Microsoft Office, database development/maintenance and publishing software is required.
Maintains a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license and provides his/her own transportation to attend district meetings, approved seminars/conference, and/or assigned district committees.
Ability to maintain a flexible schedule and attend district events.
Authority & Responsibilities:

- Serves as the information liaison between the school district and the community at large and manages the public relations program. (E)
- Works effectively with the news media and external stakeholders by producing and distributing news releases and publications. (E)
- Serves as the district spokesperson and assists the media with coverage of education events and stories. (E)
- Designs and produces a variety of district publications in various media forms, including but not limited to digital and video productions. (E)
- Manages and maintains all facets of the school district’s website.
- Represents the district in a variety of community organizations by developing community partnerships and participating in community projects and events. (E)
- Oversees and coordinates information releases during crisis situations. (E)
- Serves as the Executive Director of the Williamsport Area School District Education Foundation and is responsible for fundraising, coordinating projects, and maintaining appropriate records for the Foundation. (E)
- Schedules all Foundation meetings and maintains accurate records of Foundation activities. (E)
- Serves as the coordinator for district alumni and coordinates various alumni activities and publications. (E)
- Speaks at a variety of public meetings and coordinates district personnel to speak at community appearances. (E)
- Develops and maintains an accurate database of various district groups such as alumni, retirees, and community leaders. (E)
- Facilitates the planning and execution of major events involving district facilities, staff and/or students. (E)
- Develops, monitors, and manages an annual budget. (E)
- Demonstrates an ability to speak and write in a clear, concise manner. (E)
- Maintains confidentiality of all business related information. (E)
- Performs other related functions as directed by the Superintendent and/or designee.
Physical Requirements:
Sedentary—Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
Auditory and Visual Requirements:
Within normal ranges with or without correction.
