The Williamsport Area School District is accepting applications for an anticipated Full-Time Tier 2 Computer Technician - Audio Visual (Athletics), 7.5 hours/day, 245 days/year with many evening and weekend hours depending on district events planned. This position is based at the Innovation Technology Center, DSC, however frequent travel between all district buildings is required; subject to determination by the Superintendent.

Job Description:

 

Basic Functions:

This position provides Tier 2 (escalated) full technical support for all auditorium lighting and sound systems throughout the district, primarily serving the High School, Middle School and Intermediate Schools.  This position also provides Tier 2 (escalated) full technical support for all district athletic facility’s video boards, score boards, audio-visual systems, and sound systems, not limited to athletics.  This position will also include a wide range of electronic media duties, including but not limited to direct video content creation, live streaming events, and the creation and production of content for video boards in all athletic facilities.  This position, when requested, will also provide support for a broad range of IT services, lead project implementations, and collaborate with team members and customers (primarily school staffs) to ensure all audio-visual and technical needs and setups are completed on time and within the scope(s) required, throughout the District.    

 

 

Education & Experience:

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Video Production, Digital Media, Communications or Computer Science is preferred.  Two (2) years of documented technical production experience and media/television production experience are required.   A skills assessment may also be required. 

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

This position requires highly developed organizational skills, able to coordinate lighting needs and setups with school-sponsored activities, including but not limited to Music and/or Drama Departments.  This position also requires highly developed organizational skills and general knowledge of video production and sports.  Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Adobe Premier, Photoshop, Audition, After Effects) or equivalent is preferred.  Experience with NewTek (Vizrt) video switcher and NewTek (Vizrt) is also preferred.  This position requires the ability to follow specific, complex written and oral instructions, work under adverse circumstances, and keep complex records.  This position requires basic skills in the use of the computer including but not limited to word processing, data base management, spreadsheets, internet searches and e-mail.  This position requires highly developed verbal and written communication skills as well as problem solving/ conflict resolution skills.  This position requires the ability to coordinate lighting audio and visual needs.  This position requires the ability to work extra days and hours including evenings.   The individual must effectively communicate and interact with students, parents, staff and community members. 

 

This position requires a valid PA driver’s license and reliable transportation.

 

This position also requires the ability to work many evening hours, depending on district events planned and scheduled throughout the school year. 

 

Authority & Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for the maintenance, operation supervision and utilization of all district athletic facility video boards, score boards, audio visual systems, and sound systems. Responsible for the maintenance, operation supervision and utilization scheduling of the high school auditorium lighting system and sound systems. (E)
  1. Responsible for the maintenance of the Williamsport Area School District’s video production equipment and related peripherals, auditorium lighting systems and related peripherals, keeping all applicable inventories current and coordinating all applicable purchases with the Supervisor of Instructional Technology. (E)
  1. Responsible for the operation of the video boards, lighting systems and sound systems during all athletic events or auditorium events, meeting with the appropriate personnel to determine content, lighting and sound needs that fall within the system’s capabilities; setting and adjusting lights; adjusting video content when needed and coordinating video and sound cues with live in-game action; adding gels, gobos, high hats, barn doors, etc. when needed; and coordinating lighting cues with the production script, follow spot cues, and sound technician cues. S/he shall be familiar with other building facilities (locker rooms, classrooms, storage areas, etc.) that support athletic and/or auditorium events and communicate technical information to non-technical persons, employing excellent written and oral communication skills.   1. Responsible for the overall creation and production of the creative content displayed on athletic facilities’ videoboards. Responsible for the overall supervision of the auditorium(s) during events, making sure that custodial, parking, and security arrangements have been made for each event as needed and making sure that regulations are adhered to by each production sponsor/advisor/outside organization. (E)
  1. Ensure the supervising principal is well informed of all problems/issues that arise during any event and shall advise and coordinate the suitability of/or conflict with coming events or rentals. (E)
  1. Responsible for all set up, support and tear down for all portable presentation spaces used for professional development and assemblies district-wide.
  1. Address daily instructional support requests as well as specific computer and AV requests. (E)
  1. Support the TV production of curricular programs. (E)
  1. Oversee Live Streaming of events
  1. Edit scenarios used in the Classroom Management Lab.
  1. Support the Black Box Theatre.
  1. Provides Tier 2 support in the resolution of technical issues for the District. (E)
  1. When required, produces, updates and distributes troubleshooting guides for applicable District staff. (E)
  1. When required, assists the Network Administrators in troubleshooting network problems and network installations.
  1. Recommends to the Supervisor of Instructional Technology current and future needs related to computer systems, primarily as it pertains to audio-visual technology.
  1. May assist in the planning, installation and maintenance of television distribution and closed-circuit systems including satellite dish, security systems, and commercial cable reception. (E)
  1. May assist in the servicing and maintenance of all public address, intercom, and sound systems in all district buildings, including the high school athletic field address and coaching headphone systems. (E)
  1. Maintains confidentiality of all business-related information. (E)
  1. Performs other functions as directed by the Supervisor of Instructional Technology or designee and/or the building/department administrator(s).

 

Physical Requirements:

MEDIUM- Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

 

Auditory and Visual Requirements:

Within normal ranges with or without correction.
