WASD New Kindergarten Students

August 11 – August 15, 2025

• Hepburn Primary up to 2 teaching positions (PreK-4 or K-6)
• Jackson Primary up to 4 teaching positions (PreK-4 or K-6)
• Cochran Primary up to 4 teaching positions (PreK-4 or K-6)
• Title I up to 5 positions (Current reading specialist or coach)
• Social Worker 1 position between 3 primary schools
• School Nurse up to 3 positions at Hepburn, Jackson, and Cochran
• Special Education up to 3 positions at Hepburn, Jackson, and Cochran (K-8 cert)

Kinder Camp Description

WASD Kinder camp is designed to prepare children for Kindergarten in the fall. The half days are filled with fun math, writing, and reading activities. Children will be introduced to school-day routines, whole group and small group instruction, and hands-on centers. Students will be using and developing their fine and gross motor skills as well as their social and emotional skills, learning through play.

Teacher Expectations

• Teachers will design and deliver in-person lessons that will focus on early learning skills for incoming kindergarten students.
• Camp content will be delivered through face-to-face instruction.
• Teachers will be responsible for supervision of students during camp hours.
• Teachers will focus on transition to school activities, such as establishing and building routines, following directions, listening, and learning basic school rules while having fun.

Certification:  Relevant PDE Certifications. Preference will be given to current WASD Kindergarten teachers for teaching                               positions, then based on certification and seniority list.

Start Date: Dates as noted above Aug 11 – Aug 15, 2025

SALARY:       

Teacher Compensation:

• 1 week, 5 days of instruction
• Instructional Hourly Rate: $35.10 per hour
• Compensated hours per day 4 hours (8:30am-12:30pm). Students will attend 9:00-12:00.
• 2 paid optional professional development days on July 17-18 in person at the DSC. (These days will be to develop curriculum for the Kinder camp)
• Hours = $702 + 2PD days ($150 a day) =$1002

The 2025 Kinder camp compensation does not obligate the district to any future structure or compensation or create a past practice.

DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS IS March 14, 2025.

The criteria used for determining eligibility when applying for posted vacancies is "seniority date".  This date is a reference to the employee’s start date as a permanent employee with the district.

1. Professional staff who have been in the District fewer than four years, must complete 4 years before applying for internal vacancies.
2. Any employee who voluntarily transferred in to a position (beginning with the 2018-19 school year) must be in that position for at least 5 years before bidding on vacancies
