Description

The Williamsport Area School District is accepting applications for Substitute Traffic Control/Public Safety Services.  Hours vary between 7:00 a.m. - 9:15 a.m. and/or 2:00 p.m. - 4:15 p.m. as needed, Monday through Friday. Salary is $12.00/hour (Weekend Security substitute rate).  Position reports to Transporation Coordinator & Safety Supervisor. ALL positions at the WASD have a minimum requirement of a High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. and valid Pennsylvania Driver License.

 

Interested applicants should be aware that, if hired for the substitute position, they would be responsible for obtaining and providing the necessary background checks and clearances as well as evidence of a physical and TB testing within the past twelve months.  All fees for these requirements are the responsibility of the applicant and all clearances and health tests must be obtained prior to starting employment.  Please contact the WASD Human Resources Office or email jobs@wasd.org for more information.  EOE.

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

Basic Functions:

Direct traffic; monitor bus stops and assist students at crosswalks. 

 

Education & Experience:

Requires a minimum of a high school diploma (or equivalent).  Previous experience directing traffic in high pedestrian areas is preferred. 

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

This position requires the ability to act independently, handle emergency situations and adjust to changes in the environment.

 

This position requires the ability to communicate with employees at of all levels and maintain a positive attitude with all employees, parents, students, and other individuals utilizing District buildings.

 

This position requires a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license and reliable transportation.

 

Consistent Attendance is required.  

 

Physical Requirements:

MEDIUM:  Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time; walk; use hands to handle or feel; reach and motion with hands and arms; step up and down curbs; blow a whistle; talk or hear and visually observe vehicle and pedestrian traffic activity.

 

Auditory and Visual Requirements:

Within normal ranges with or without correction. 

 

Exposures/Hazards:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes and/or airborne particles. They will work outdoors in various weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
